polyurthane bushings help.

ok so i got a polyurthane bushinhs kit and i am going to attempt to put them on myself. i was just wondering if i need any special tools or such to remove and install the new bushings. i have heard of people drilling into the old bushings for removal and just using a rubber mallet to tap in the new bushings. does that seem convential at all? thanks ^_^

That's a pretty good way to get bushings in and out. The front control arm rear bushings need to be cut off, a dremel or similiar works well there. Drilling out the bushings helps loosen their grip, making it easier to get them out.

When I undertook this chore on the '91 N/A I then owned, I found that in some cases, I even had to burn out the old ones. Over time and mileage and weather, these things can get quite solidly welded in. Do whatever you have to to get the old ones out without damaging the car. Good luck! This can become quite a chore.
