Plug wires: How much "radio interference" do non-resistor wires create?
Plug wires: How much "radio interference" do non-resistor wires create?
Lessons learned in life: Don't trust a parts store when they say they can order plug wires that fit a RX-7. Stupid "generic 4 cylinder" plug wires of increasing length.
Anyway, I want to replace my plug wires (partly due to an unfortunate encounter between one of my overly long trailing plug wires & a belt that rubbed off some insulation).
There seem to be two types of plug wires - resistor, and non-resistor. The non-resistor types make a lot more sense to me, and create a hotter spark, but apparently create radio interference.
How bad is this radio interference in the car? I listen to the radio a decent amount, but it's usually from a low power FM transmitter on my iPod. If the plug wires drown out everything, it's no good, but if it's just a very minor buzzing in the background or such, I don't think it would bother me.
Is anyone using "racing" wires on their daily driver?

there is little to almost no difference bewteen surpressed plug wires and regular (non resistor) wires as far as spark is concerned. They do not create a hotter spark, they do not allow more energy. It is an old wives tale left over from the Chevy V8 days.
However there can and often are issues with regular wires being used on cars with electronics (including ECUs and radios). Spark noise can easily cause all sorts of issues in radio operation and sometimes even ECU operation.
