plug socket wont fit.

ok guys, i was out working on my 7 yesterday, checking fluids and what not, and i decide i wanted to check my spark plugs. i get out my spark plug socket and it dosnt fit. i cant push it all the way onto the nut, noe does it look like it will fit on it. i knwo there is different sized spark plugs, but is there a different sized nuts around the sparkplug? it fits on most spark plugs ive taken off of other engines.

What size is the socket you're using? I think you need a 13/16" socket, so if yours is a different size, get the proper size. Simple!

You may also need a thin walled socket, depending on what type of plug it is.

yeah, chances is it's not the NGK plug, which extends past the lip.

mazdatrix sells the socket that you can use. you can also grind your socket down to fit. as stated above, the socket should be a 13/16.

If it will fit over the nut, but not go down all the way, then non-stock plugs were used, and you need a thin-walled spark plug socket to get them out.

i had to shave my socked down flus, i mean, the socket comes with a slight bevel on the inside edges so you can get on the nut better, but snice there is little surface of the nut to grap. it give you that extra little bit of contact, works for me.
