please help w/ my stupid hesitation problem

I just bought an 86 GXL 2 months ago and I have been trying to get rid of the hesitation problem since then. It hesitates when you stab at the throttle anywhere above 3500 rpms all the way to redline. If you gradually step on the gas then it runs fine. I have read and tried everything on this whole forum. I have tried 2 different ECU's, 2 different TPS's, adjusting the TPS, several different timing settings, 3 different AFM's, several different pairs of injectors, wiring open the 5th/6th ports and the latest thing I've tried is grounding everything including the ECU pins that everyone talks about. I've even tried a completely different intake manifold. and not to mention countless bottles of fuel injection cleaner. This is my 5th RX7 but all of them have been carbuerated 1st gen's except for an 89 GXL but I put a 750cfm edelbrock on that. so all i'm saying is that I don't know fuel injection too well. and i am starting to get really frustrated. anybody have any other ideas of what I can try? anything at all? it would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Did you check for clogged cats, fuel filter?

*Edit: Which injectors did you change out.. secondaries may need cleaning and flow testing.

Uh, not an expert on this one by any means:

I know you tried the grounds but maybe this would be helpful:

That said, when the car was a n/a, I found a hesitation at the 3500 crossover and it was caused by the crimp splices that someone other than me, had put on the secondary injectors. Soldered the same wires and that was put to bed.

The additional grounds at the ECU were added at the splice in the harness about a foot from the plugs. The harness braid had to be cut back to find the splices. Follow the black wires from 3A and 3G up the harness til you run across it.

I haven't checked the cats...I was thinking that maybe they we're clogged because they smell pretty bad....is that usually a sign of being clogged?

I haven't flow tested the injectors....I have about 10 used fuel injectors lying around and I have tried a bunch of them....both primary and secondary position.

as for the grounding.....do the ground wires I add in have to be soldered....I used butt connectors. was this not a good idea?

thanks for the help so far.

Soldering provides a much better connection then butt connectors. Soldering isn't hard to learn, you should try it (on scrap wire first, of course.)

Mine does that hesitation crap, but only when it's cold. Once it warms up, or has been running for a minute or two, it doesn't do it.
