Exclamation Please Help Rx7 Tii

Kasper from Denmark here.

I have starting problem with my RX7 88 TII. 155kkm on the clock.

Problem.

Starter motor i turning and its making a clicking sound (the clicking noice is the air (donīt know whats it is called i eng.) something under the air filter) and everything else is looking fine, after about 5-10 sec of running the starter motor it starts smelling like gas. Im thinking, there is no power for the sparkplugs.
Anyone now what is causing this ??

I have checked alle the fuces and the relays, there seams to be nothing wrong, i also have the Haynes service manual, but that haven't helped.

Have you checked if the plugs are fouled? Kinda sounds like your engine is flooded, but keeps flooding again. Either pull the fuse for fuel pump, or pull the plugs and crank for a bit. Hope that helps.

you need to decarbon your engine once you get it started or rebuild it. Pour trans fluid into the intake at 3000 rpm your engine is probably full of carbon, see other threads

first off check spark.

take a lower plug wire off and put a screwdriver in it and set it on the strut tower so the metal from the driver isnt touching it but is close. maybe 1/4" or less. and crank the key. the spark will jump from the screwdriver to the body if you do indeed have spark. if not then you should check the much looked over "engine" fuse under the drivers side kick panel. if you do have spark and it still wont start then take out both lower spark plugs and clean them off really well. make sure they arent wet. then take out the "ign"" fuse and crank your car with the pedal to the floor. also be observant to the "puffs" coming out of the plug hole. they should be steady puff puff puff. if it skips then you have compression issues which would make it hard to start. put the plugs back in and replace the fuse and try to start while lightly feathering the gas. if nothing then repeat the deflood procedure and drag it down the street in second gear and try to pull start it.
