please help me identify this box

on the passenger side behind the kicker panel i noticed a rattling. so ulled the kicker panel off and unplugged the electric connector.on the cover it says knock something.is this the knock box? i just bought the car.first turbo many of na's.but anyway the computer chip inside is split in half.hat will this do to my car and what will it hurt.i will try toget a pic of it soon.oh and if anyone has one for sale? and thank you very much in advance,jason

That box detects knock, and retards the timing accordingly.
