i have recently picked up my fourth rx 7 its a 1988 mazda rx7 gtu i got the car pretty cheap because it wasnt all together and now the more i put back to gether them more weird problem i find the car does however run once i started looking in to it i found a substance that was used to seal the air filter in that looks like tar and it fills the air tube about half way full any ideas on how to get it out also my car will sit and idle in my drive way but once i start driving it it goes dead every time i stop or knock it out of geat any ideas will be great thanks alot

 

the tar like substance may be an old filter seal. When i first changed my old air filter teh seal melted in my hands, felt just like tar. You also seem to not be able to idle either, not enough fuel pressure, bad filters or a clogged fuel pump sock or bad pump.

 

when i bought the car about 2 weeks ago the guy claimed it had a brand new fuel pump on it

 

any ideas on an easy way to get the crap out of my filter tube ??
