pit on low mi. rotor housing: is it junk?

I'm cleaning up my rotor housings and i notice a pit in the aluminum getting ready to eat out under where the coolant seal would sit. The reason i'm apprehensive to junk the housing is because it is the best one i've come across (other than the pit there is no other corrosion or wear).

Anyways, i cleaned the pit out and it's about 1/2 millimeter deep and 2 mm wide... about 2/3 of the way across where the coolant seal sits. Does anybody know of a way to fix this maybe by dropping a bead on it and sanding it flush or should i scrap it and find another housing?

I think i attached a diagram... dont know if it's gonna work.

I real picture would be much more helpful, but odds are you can fix this. Grab some JB Weld (normally I hate the stuff, but it works well here) from the hardware store. Clean the area around the pit (which you should have done during your inspection). Squeegee the JB Weld into the pit, let it dry, then repeat twice more. After it's completely cured, sand it smooth with 400 grit sandpaper. Make sure not to sand too much, or you will remove too much material from the rotor housing. You should only have to sand for about 10 seconds or so if you have not overfilled the hole. Should be good as new.

worked great... now the other housing...

anyone know/come across crosswise dimples in the chrome surface? it's almost invisible (wont bother trying to get it on camera), but feels like an indent all the way across the chrome on either side, right before where the apex seal comes to the top of the hump on the chrome. i wonder if it's from manufacture or something that's going to eat my rebuild. the chrome isn't damaged or flaked, just goes in a little.
