Pineapple Racing sleeves and metal gasket

Before I put in those 2 sleeves, should I prelube them with mobil synthetic oil? I figure since that part of the motor doesn't burn oil, that I should at least make them rotate easier with a bit of oil. Second question is should I use any type of gasket sealer for the lower intake metal gasket. I know it wasn't needed for the old cardboard style gasket.

just a guess...

i'm guessing that you wouldn't want to put oil in there. i'm thinking that the oil would collect dirt and grime and eventually make it harder to turn the sleeves. i could be wrong of course.

i'd ask rob at pineapple racing for the definate answer, he's very good at answering emails within a day.

I'd check them first to see if they rotate freely, before adding some lubircant. As for the gasket, you don't need anything on it. The metal ones are far better than the old paper ones. CJ

Oil will eventually collect with carbon- and sieze.
Use dry graphite powder lube
Eventually, backfires will deposit oil and carbon in the sleeve anyways though.

Well since the old sleeves were coated with clean looking oil when I had them removed, I figure the "dried" PR sleeves should go in coated with oil as well. Oh well, the lower intake was installed tonight so time will tell whether it was a bad idea. I will try the dry graphite powder on the actuator rods as they tend to gum up around the copper bushing area. Thx.

I think they are automaticly lubed since out cars spray oil in the intake anyway. since this is the case I would not use the grafite lube as it will gunk up as the grafite collects oil
