Pictures: New wheels/suspension & spoiler -opinions wanted!

Well, Ive went through a few sets of wheels lately. I first had a set of 17x8 '03 Mustang GT wheels, that I really did like, but decided to sell for something a bit more "flashy", I guess you could say. I then had a set of Volk GTUs, which I really did like, but sold because I was going to go through with a widebody conversion. Ive since decided not to do that, so I just got my new wheels in yesterday, a set of 17x8/17x9 Volk GTPs. While I really do like these wheels, I am a bit disappointed because the offset of them is not what I was told. I thought they were a ~36mm offset, but it turns out they are a 41, and yep, they are rubbing the front strut. So I now I either have to get a small set of spacers (No thanks..) or get a set of coilovers to give a bit more clearance. This is what I will end up doing , so if anyone would be interested in the basically brand new Tokico struts/springs I have on now, PM me. Anyway, so here are a few pics I took of the new wheels, and also you can see my new rotors, SS brake lines, and RB swaybars, etc.. Car is sitting extremely high because of no engine or driveline.

Here are a few pics I snapped while mounting up my Turbo and manifold to my new block. I just wanted to get some measurements of how far it would be out, before I sent the manifold out to get ceramic coated.

And finally, here are some pics of the FRP spoiler I am having moulded into the car when it goes in for paint. (within a few weeks hopefully..) Just wanted some other opinions of it. It will be seamless when finished.

Nice wheels. Ugly wing, painted or not.

Yeah, I don't like the wing too much, I like the stock style the best. Other than that it's looking good!

wing will look good when everything is painted and the turbo is installed. NA guys just need something to complain about. Some are just mad because your wheels & tires cost more than their car. Good job and post some pics when its done

Nice setup on everything. That wing when molded/painted looks good.

With that offset, the widebody kit won't look right. What size were the GTU's? I can't tell if I liked them better or not since the car looks jacked up. Drop it down so we can see how it all sits...

I saw the same type of wings at rotorfest, just don't like the molded look very much. And I'm sure the hell not an NA guy!

jon88se: I think you may have mis-read my original post. I said I decided not to go through with the widebody, which is why I bought this set of GTPs. With the widebody, I was planning on some 17x9/17x10 wheels with a +15mm offset, but I decided I just didnt feel like going through all the hassle.

And Im also not decided on the wing yet. At 1st I really loved the look of it, but I am now thinking of leaving it wingless. Thats why I asked for some more opinions on it. I had a "sport" wing on it previously, which was paint-matched to the body, which didnt look too bad, just got tired of it and wanted something different.

my opinion: detailed:
wheels look cool, but the 3 peice look is very busy for the rx7 bodylines. i think the wing could be cool, but your going to have to make the rest of your car match it. reminds me of an nsx.
heres what id do: find a bodykit. something simple that brings the car lower to the ground, almost (even though i hope to god they dont make these for our cars) like a buddyclub. the wing really widens the back half of the car up, so you have to make the rest of the car match that idea, otherwise itll just look ricey. the problem is that wing doesnt work with the cars current bodylines, mostly from the dated bumpers. at the least make sure your car is low enough to make the wing work (visually), and at the least upgrade the bumpers to s5. then id paint the car a dark color to bring out the wheels.

or you could paint the wheels a darker color.
you just cant do chrome+light colors.

Drop the car from the jack and take some pics of the car's stance. The GTU's looked awesome The GTP's match the color of your car really well.

Sadly enough..the car isnt on jacks. Just how it sits minus the engine/tranny/exhaust, and new springs/struts which havent been given the chance to settle.

As for the color of my car, I really like the color, and am keeping it that way, black side mouldings and all. With my car being repainted , I have the option to change it any color I want, and Im sticking with stock IMO there is a very nice contrast between silver and a polished aluminum wheel. Im not really into the colored wheels. They dont look bad in some applications, but its not for me. Everything on my car is either polished, or painted metallic black. Just wait until I get some engine bay shots with my ceramic coated IMs

No the wing really is butt ugly. The wheels will look cool depending on what color he paints the car. And none of us N/A guys are complaining because we're jealous. Most the N/As on this board are faster than his car... we have engines in the car

I totally agree, the wheels match the paint really well. I like that color on the FC. No engine tranny exhaust explains the ride height I think it will all look nice together. A set of side skirts (fc3s.org maybe) and a front lip with an S5 bumper (like my mazdaspeed replica or a feed replica or even a stock TII replica) would look perfect.

Agreed. I already have a Border front bumper ( basically wanted something to let more air to my FMIC) and I think a set of stock S5 T2 sideskirts would match it all together very nicely.

The fc3s.org skirts would look better than stock TII IMHO. They are just a bit more dramatic than stock S5 TII pieces and the price is right.

You gonna keep your wheels this time? I REALLY like the wing, good choice, I may steal that. Also, it's funny seeing that turbo/manifold brand new in person then seeing it again somewhere else
