Pics of my summer cleanup...

I know... waaaaay overdue... 4 months or so. But, I finally found a site to host the images and I thought I'd finally post them. Also very proud of my Christmas present from my father- the original BBS wheels refinished and restored. =)

Yes, that was a 911 in the background.

Eh, those rims are ugly. You should upgrade and send them to me so I may "dispose" of them.

And send that 911 while your at it.

Sweet looking car and rims man.

Wow You vert is absolutely gorgeous. How did you get your rims so clean? This is the cleanest i've ever had mine. I usually wash them with a rather potent mix of simple green, then apply a light coat of wax to help keep the brake dust visibility down.

Isnt this the car that blew the motor at 70k or something? What ended up happening? Sorry if i sound nosey but yours is the first black vert that ive seen personally thats as clean as mine so thats why i ask. Mine just turned 100k and as far as i know its got the original motor. Still running great with no smoke or anything.

Whatever it was i hope it was easy, that car is perrrrrty!

Thanks for all the compliments guys, it's much appreciated. Alot of hard work went into it!

I spray on a bit of Simple Green, let it sit while I then spray with Meguiar's wheel cleaner, scrub with a brush with car soap & water, then hose them off. As for the reconditioning, I'll get the name for you when I can- my dad knows, I'll call him when he gets off work. I still have the original set that came with the car, going to keep them for my winter tires. >=)

Nope, original paint. I'm the third owner of the car- didn't look nearly as good when I got it. Repainted the moldings around the windshield. The windshield is new actually, thanks to a rock that left a huge circle of cracks while I was driving back to school on the highway. Also repainted the moldings around the windows, and sanded and painted the little bolts that go around the top, used to be rusted out.

Lots of polishing and waxing involved. Back in highschool I used to wash & wax it every Saturday morning. You could put a towel on the hood and it'd slide right off. Alot harder to take care of at college. Drove it home alot last year to give it a good washing every now and then.

And Meguiar's NXT Paste Wax, I swear by that stuff. Even if the RX-7 on the label is the only reason I tried it in the first place... very good stuff- goes on and off easy, leaves a very slick feel when you're finished.

Thanks. About 91,000 at the moment. I got it 3 years ago with 64,000.

Yes it is. That was a sad day... and a sad month for me. Happened 12:00am April 2nd- I thought my vert was pulling a late April fools joke. Lost an apex seal at 65mph while going home on the highway. No worries though, it now has a newly rebuilt streetported 13B inside.

The going of the motor, most definitely the result of a disagreement my father & I had. The guy looks like Tony Soprano and he drives a 911- I had no say in the matter. Needless to say, he lets me change my oil when I want to now. lol

Lol, well im glad its running good now. Although it scares me a little. Mine runs like a top but it sounds like urs did too up until then. I wonder what caused yours to fail like that if the car was babied like it looks like it has been?

Quote my father, "You don't need to change the oil on rotary engines. They burn oil so you just need to add a quart every once in awhile."

I argued saying there was no way that was possible- and that surely the oil may burn, but the dust and particles inside it wouldn't. But he's stubborn, and if I changed the oil I'd never hear the end of it. He paid for the new engine when the original went. It's now a very humorous story to tell the friends and family.

I change it every 2.5-3k now.

wow, i admire your vert. I have a black 88 with a red tII hood hence the tII motor swap (very sweet) but then again, my top is ripped in like 5 different places patched up ghetto like by some mexican that i bought the car from.

As of now, I'm going to try to clean my bbs's up to make them shiny like yours!

I would love to do an S5 TII swap someday. Definitely sometime in the distant future when I can afford to get it done right though.
