was to get it emission tested on this outing but I found out I had to replace the Y part of the exhaust that connects my mufflers because the metal was too thin to be welded. I also didn't cut the rear bumper, the first owner did >.>

You need to get some S4 tail lights, Ive got some for you. Ill trade you for those ugly ugly S5 ones.

Just kidding.

If you just got the car replacing all fluids should be the first priority. Change the oil, flush the coolant, change the tranny fluids, and so on. You don't know when the last time those have been changed.

get some Purple Power from an autoparts store... remember its concentrated so mix a little bit with a lotta bit of water. put in a spray bottle and douse the engine (make sure you disconnect battery), and make sure your airbox is tight, spray with high pressure water about an hour later... voula. repeat as necessary

I'm afraid of putting water in my engine bay, would washing and not drying cause the pipes to stiffen and eventually crack? haha I was trying to pull S4 lights off a junked car cause my S5 light has a small crack under the turn signal light far bottom right, its totally not noticable but a headache, is it attached to the main lights or can i just look for that part. Pretend this is the right rear light ( o o | o ) <--- that part

I changed the oil, it was black as dirt, the air filter, kinda costly ><, the oil filter and the spark plugs. I don't have a drop of windshield wiper fluid hah, the coolant is full, thats how i got it and transmission fluid seems fine, brake fluid is full and clutch fluid too both not done by me as well but the last owner. Am I missing anything that needs to be checked? I have no LSD so no differential fluid.

gtr06 does that car seriously have 244k on it? If so it looks GREAT for that kind of mileage.

yup, the last owner rebuilt this 1990 GX at 150k and told me he changed everything including bearings, wires and clutch, looks like he maintained it well. The mechanic says the clutch is a little high though? Does that mean I'll need a new one soon?

I think the mechanic was referring to where the pedal is set. You can change where along the pedal travel it engages to preference if you wish.

Well the clutch pedal was worn out and I decided to buy a 7$ aluminum pedal set, and yeah I guess its pink, I dunno why I thought it was red... I didn't feel like having it on the brake and they gave me the wrong parts for the gas, but can't complain about 7$ taiwanese parts. It feels fine though better than the worn rubber.

Man, I'd post some shots of my car, but you would all cry. I bought it for $900 about a year and 3 months ago..I find out months later that I was ripped. It is my first rotary/sports car/RX-7 obviously, and I didn't know what to look for. The Driver Side door handle didn't work *fixed*, Windshield Wipers didn't work *fixed*, Wires hanging out from everywhere *gotta redue most of the electircle system * and now my Transmission is going out *scratches in 3rd gear...* According to the guy, the engine was rebuilt before he got it, so I'm gonna say 50k on the new engine...I've got over 230K miles on the car itself. I replaced a gaskit seal, that costed alot of money...got a brand new exauhst on it..body looks like..guh, ugly.

And for somebody who has no idea how to really work on American cars, let alone a Rotary..yeah, Good Luck to me...hope I can get my '88 GTU looking better soon.

I paid 1200 canadian it was the cheapest I could find it and the paint was in pristine condition with exceptions of a few scratches behind the rearshield glass and one rust spot trouble is finding harbour blue (5D) is impossible at the dealership and car stores without a custom mix (30$). Small crack on the turn signal light in the back in the black unnotciable part and worn out tires and wipers.

CyberPitz sounds like you had the same problem the last owner who had my car did, he had to fix everything 2 months after he got it (including rebuilding and replacing everything) and couldn't maintain it. The Y part of my exhaust (300$ to replace) is falling apart, the drivers door doesn't lock from the inside, the passenger side door can be locked but if you pull the handle while its locked it jams until you take it apart. He didn't tell me about any of these problems but they were noticable and annoying.

Cleaning the interior I noticed how easily everything comes off, feel kinda cheap compared to my friends '87 celica GT but it just makes things more customable I guess!

Yeah it really sucks. He didn't tell me about 90% of the things that I found out wrong on the 2 hour trip home. Like the windsheild wipers while it was raining!

"Hey, they don't work..."
"I had no idea.."
"The handle on the drivers side doesn't work!"
"Yeah, about that..."
grrr, I'mma go get $300 of my money back. He said he even put a new clutch in and everything, and now I think I have a fried clutch plate *I'm going off what others are saying, remember, I'm car dumb.* I shift into a gear, let out the clutch, hear metal clanging down there...
