PIcs: fender removal.. wtf is this?

I had to unscrew the wheel well to get to the rest of the screws but behind it (as you can see in the picture, its bolted to the front bumper(not just screwed)... it looks like to remove the fender you have to be able to get at the other side of the front bumper some how which seems completely stupid, let me know if im wrong...it would be so troublesome.

It IS a pain. When my friend and I did mine though, we decided against doing it right. all we did was sorta bend the front bumper fascia out of the way so that we could get in there with a wrench and socket and get them out. However, we also bent the old fender out of the way (since it was dented) and got 2 of the 3 back in.
If you wanna do it the right way though, you will have to take off the front bumper fascia, like the FSM and Haynes say, but they both have really crappy pics and no instruction on how to do it.

Grrr.....that was me, dunno whats up with the forum. Also meant to add, that it wasnt a really big deal w/ the bumper cause it bends like 95 - 97% of the way back, as long as you dont haul off and yank it outta the way, and instead just kinda move it till you can get to the bolt heads. Doing that will crack the paint (obviously) but it worked fine as long as you dont mind your paint getting a bit messed up.

On mine half of those MF'ing bolts broke when trying to take them out. I'm replacing the entire process with about five or six dzus fastners. Those Mazda engineers were on crack when they came up with mounting the front bumper and fenders.

it's the stupidest effing design ever. why must it be so hard? I am in the same shituation as you are. I'm trying to get my driver's side fender off to bang out some dents caused by my door when you open it. I don't care about my paint though, because I am painting the car soon anyways,so if it cracks, who cares?

Stupid cars. Such a pain in the ****.

I know this is an old *** thread, but, someone has to tell these ****'s how to pull this fender. Take out your headlight, the whole thing comes out in four bolts.. and gives you access to the inside fender bolts, no need to remove the front bumper.
