pics - $265 CONVERTIBLE TOPS - should I even attempt this??

Well this is new. There's a convertible top supplier selling the pre-cut tops for our convertibles. Quality looks good from the pictures and the seller's ebay feedback is glowing with 983 praises.

The RX-7 service manual does have instructions on removing & installing new tops.

So it comes down to:
DIY - $265
Top Shop - $700+

What do you think, is it even possible to replicate OEM quality by Doing it Yourself? Any experiences doing this?

Here's their tops in canvas, but they offer vinyl & German Cloth in colors black, white, & dark tan.

I'm talking to them now about this as well.

I've seen their website and there has been a lot of talk lately about this company.

Here's an old thread that was revived recently:

seems okay to me, and it sounds like their quality is okay -- but I'm sure it depends on the material too. Personally I'm not too fond of the canvas, but I suppose if you get good material it would probably be okay. Have no personal experience w/ them, so keep us posted!!

I want to try and patch mine for now but I bookmarked this AA site so I can have something to save up for. Has anyone every tried to patch their tops just so the rips don't get worse. Oh and what is the difference in cloth types???
