Picked up another FC, only this time with boost
I just got back yesterday from a little road trip to Massachusetts to pick up an 88 Turbo2. I bought it from forum member "TristanTII". Hes a really nice guy, helped me out and answered all my questions. Anyway, the trip was 550 miles one way, and took me close to 21 hours round trip, went up then straight back. The car was a blast to drive back, even though the upper rad hose burst on me 1/2 way back through Connecticut (luckily I brought tools and extra coolant, and found a parts store still open ) The car is pretty beat up body-wise, but I got a good deal on it, with all mods that are in sig. I wasnt sure what I was planning on doing with it, but a friend of mine said that he wanted a Rx-7 body to use as a IT spec racecar, so Im going to take the engine and drivetrain and swap it into my N/A (near perfect body), and give him the T2 body. Ill take some pics in a little bit and post them up, its pouring down rain right now.
Impressions of the turbo vs my N/A?
Well you can tell it has alot more torque. Itll spin the tires in 1st and 2nd no problem. As for speed, I think my N/A would keep up until higher speeds, maybe top of 3rd into fourth, where the turbo has a distinct advantage, i pulled up to 120MPH almost effortlessly in 5th gear in the T2. My N/A feels a little more light and tossable, even though the T2 has an aluminum hood and a bunch of stuff removed for weight reduction, but it might just be the different suspension setups on the 2.
Anyways, just thought Id give my $.02 on the T2, and Ill have pics up ASAP, I promise

Keep in mind that the FCD is going to trick the ECU to see only what, 8.5-8.6# even though your boosting more. So what happens? After you're really boosting 8.6#, you start to run lean.

Yep I understand that. I dont even know how much longer then engine is going to be in this car though, I may start pulling stuff in the next week or 2. If I do see more than 10PSI Id put the main cat (high-flow) back on, and that should help bring it down.

Actually thats pretty much the reason I bought it..N/A power just wasnt enough for me anymore. Going to swap the T2 engine and driveline from this into my (much prettier ) N/A. I dont really care for the way the turbo responds, Im not used to lag, but hopefully I can take care of / or get used to it. Yes the FD alt is a nice touch Any word on when you're shipping out that clutch and stuff?
