People with aftermarket gauges! Where did you find 12 V?

Cig lighter, anything in the fuse box. Just put it on the dead side of the fuse socket (if that makes sense). So if there is a short it will still blow the fuse. Like if the stock is 10A then put the gauge on it and throw a 15A fuse in.

i just added power windows to my 89 GTU.
i used a spade connector into an available spot in the fuse box for my 12v.
it was friggin easy.

The best and most comon place is cig lighter pluss you can still use cig lighter just reatach the wires just make sure to put in a bigger fuse in fuse box wont efect car but needs that bigger fuse to allow for that power.

I used a test light and a needle to find my light source. Very easy and I didn't have to run a wire over to the cig lighter.
Turn your lights on and stick the pin through a wire under the dash. Check for power....if the light fails to come on, try a different wire. If the light comes on, turn your lights off to see if it's a switched power source or not. If it is, you're set. If the light stays on, try a different wire. I don't know which one I tapped into, but it works and it was very easy.
Good luck!!!!!

I do not know where I got my 12v power. I have the wiring diagram for my car so I went from there. I believe I tapped the power that went to my turbo timer. Running water temp, oil pressure, and oil temp on that one. And for the rheostated power I just tapped the wire that came out of the back of the dimmer switch. And I have a switch that lets me turn off the lights on the gauges.
On my oil pressure gauge I put it somewhere unconventional. I placed the gauge on the door. Under the vent. Believe it or not....it is easy to see and looks neat. I only had to run two wires from the body to the door. The 12v rheostated power and signal wire. The power and ground i got from the door.
