NJ Passing emissions - acquire/install air pump

I need to get the parts needed to pass emissions. For the air pump setup, I need the Air pump w/brackets and hoses, ACV and a pipe that goes from the ACV to the cat. Is this correct? Am I missing anything?

i don't think you need that to pass emissions, don't have an aftermarket cat? the split air tube is just to put air in the cat so it doesn't burn up. as long as you're catted you should be fine

also, this should be in the WTB of the parts section

My car doesn't have the air pump, rats nest, etc. What would I need to get back on there to pass emissions?
BTW- I'm premixing.

i was premixing and still passed emissions. why do you need all that stuff? as long as you have no cel and you're under the limits on your exhaust, you're fine. obd1 is simple

Completely opposite. It pumps air into the cat to make it burn hotter.

I have an airpump, bracket and some hoses off an s4 NA. Not sure if it will work with your tii but I've never seen anyone specify a difference.

split air pipe pumps air to burn off extra gas no? and it feeds it air so the cat doesn't die prematurely? either way, it's not 100% needed

cel = check engine light

Spit Air Pipe gets its air from the air pump to help lower the incomplete combustion emission.

Its not 100% needed but your cat will die much faster without it, especially if you do a lot of low rpm / low speed / city driving.

Gotcha.
So, let me get this straight ..even tho I don't have the air pump, and other emissions stuff, I can still pass the emissions test?

I would give it a try and if you don't pass the first time then you can either get a new cat or get an electric air pump out of something like a corvette.

actually most of the air pump air goes to PORT AIR, which is the round passage under the ACV on the intake.

compare sizes with that and the split air pipe, or rear the FSM

if you dont have a visual smog check like we do ive always wanted to try hooking the air pump right to the port air passage.

if you do have to hook it up, you need air pump, acv, and the two solenoids. split air pipe does not get used in a smog test

I've always heard of people running a hose directly from the air pump to the split air pipe. It makes sense in theory but I have yet to test it out. Any truth to this?

it doesn't work as well as port air, so in a place with really tight standards, it probably won't work
