Parts listing/manuals

Does anyone have a parts thread. Something like what the dealership has so that I can look at a breakdown of say the radiator and know what part/part number I need so I can call a dealership and tell them exactly what number to look up and see availability?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1979-...spagenameZWDVW

This is something I found on ebay... I don't know if it works for a link if not someone explain to me how to make it work.

Thank you

you know you can phone the dealer and simply explain what you need right?

you don't need to have part numbers and such.....unless your local dealer is very incompetent....

or you are looking for VERY wierd and hard to explain part like a rear trim panel clip or something...

but the parts fiche from ebay SHOULD be what you are after....but then again - it IS ebay

Its not that I can't call the dealership... its that they are incompetent and not for any other reason other than the fact that its a 15 year old car now. So I figrue its easiest to be able to say look here and this is the number I have... or I have them print it and fax the section to me.

Like today I was able to find a part I have been looking for since like august of last year to put my A/C condenser back in and finish up the engine bay... and by having him print that section I was able to find that mazda is retarded and they listed the part in the Radiator parts not the A/C parts list.

Not the parts guys fault but is a bad parts placement in the microfiche.

it is true that most parts people are incompetent, mainly because they simply do't want to spend the time to look up the right part or there is a miscommunication between how you view it and how he does and how it comes up on the computer.

There definitly is a PDF parts catalog out there somewhere...I just cannot find it at the moment. I downloaded it years ago from a website I randomly ran accross...Maybe it was Mazdacomp? Some decent Googling can probably find it and if you do let me know because I'll add it to the FAQ.

Of course, the service manual is already in the FAQ.

I think I'll buy the microficha CD and if it works well then cool if not then I am out some cash.

If it does work well I can make copies if people are interested.

let me know how it works, it would be nice to have fisches on the computer at the shop rather than dealing with the mazda counter guys and their all too often attitude towards older cars.

I have to honestly say though as a side note to this...

I hear TONNES of people saying that their local dealership were asses etc...no nothing etc....

maybe its just how I deal with people but I experience none of these problems with my local dealership.....could be that Im a shop and not a walk-in......but the only time they ever gave me trouble was looking up a paint code and I got on their case....

seems to me that some people expect too much when it comes to the knowledge pool of a parts jockey making 10.50/hour

exactly my thoughts... my parts man is great but doesn't know anything about the fc's...

so he prints a picture of the parts in the area and I point to what I need.

lol works out great tho

i have worked with parts people every day for a decade, being a line tech it sucked having ******* parts people. sometimes you get lucky and find the guys who know numbers and can read your mind and others who waste your ******* time and your paycheck away and want to drag them over the counter and kick the **** out of them......

/rant off

to be honest I was dealing with a guy at atkins rotary for the last 2 years with all my parts and stuff and he was great but since he left now its like a retard humping a doorknob... so I am like f it I would rather deal with a moron in person than over the phone.

Its the mazdacomp site: http://www.mazdamotorsports.com/weba...servlet/PubRX7
I'm lucky, my dealership has a very good and helpful parts guy. He spent about 15 or 20 minutes searching around to see if there was a way to order the injector clips seperatly from the harness (there isn't.) Now the local parts places are a different story....
