part two: TII vs MKIII (drove one)

this ties in with the question i had...

MKIII supra turbo or TURBO II?? I test drove an 87 supra turbo tonight and I have decided my first choice is the TURBO II (especially S5)

It was light blue(not my first pick) and had 112K. Supposedly has been well kept. The car drove well, but the first thing I noticed (comparing it to my 944 and my old S5 NA) is that it feels HEAVY in the corners. Also, Im not sure I like how the steering wheel and sitting position is situated, but maybe I am too used to my racing steering wheel The owner rode with me so I didnt drive it 100%, but I did get on the gas hard in second and third gear. The turbo lag isn't too shabby, and the car has loads of TORQUE! The power definitely makes up for lack of handling, but I still think I would be happier with a S5 turbo II w/ mods to have more power and better handling than a MKIII.

The FC wins in handling, looks, weight, acceleration is a tie, shifter (supra has tall clunky one), gauges (supra tries to be too high tech), and engine (my opinion). I also think FC wins in bang for buck, and the S5 turbo II is much less common.

although if i absolutely could not find a TURBO II i wouldnt regret buying a supra turbo. they are still sweet cars w/ good potential, but like someone said earlier they are only a GT luxury cruiser, and too heavy to compete with the sports car FC.

for once someone listened to me! Haha j/k
Like I said when you go head to head in a Grand tourer test the Supra will win hands down, but when you talk about pure sports cars...NOTHING and I mean NOTHING compares with the 7 (well...the Enzo is close )!

nothing compares to the 7? i know we all love FBs, FCs and FDs, but there are a LOT of true sports cars that compare to the 7.

how about the Lotus elise? Toyota MR-2? Acura NSX?

There was a man in texas who had a 2 engine tiburon.... one in the front and one in the rear. Two 20b's in a rx7 would be way better

Yea, that car was in SCC about a year ago. it did like a 9.5 second quarter mile. running on methanol. it was pretty nice, but i agree a twin 20b would be .

If your going to punctuate, then do it right. Learn where your sentences end and where they start, not run-on sentences.

i wasnt saying the S5 is the lightest car in the corners, just that its lighter compared to the MKIII, or any supra really (except maybe really early ones). I agree with you though, the S5 is still not as light as it could or should be, and I used to own an 85 GSL and that 2,300 pound car felt like a go-kart in the corners, so i cant even imagine how light your race car FB feels.
