Part missing on aux. port actuators - how much of a problem is this?

I was just looking under the hood a few days ago and noticed that a piece was missing off my front actuator. I'm not sure of the official name, but its some like the aux. port retainer clip. It is what connects the piston on the actual actuator to the thing that rotates from the air pressure. The actuator still works, becuase the things still hits the pison on the actuator, but the rear port is opening first becuase it still has the retainer clip thingy (gotta love the technical terms, huh?) Anyway, how do you get the clip thing off? Is there some special trick? There's an s4 rx-7 in a junkyard about 10 minutes from my apt. Everything of use from the interior is already gone but most everything in the engine bay is still there, so I have a place to get it from. Thanks for the help.

just make sure that the little connector (what to have circled) is attached to the little shaft on the end of the sleeve rod. you dont HAVE to have the clip. as long as the actuator pushes it open it'll work fine.

Thats not actually my car in the pic. It was a pic from someones writeup on how to work the actuators electronically without backpressure. The pic was much clearer than anything I could get of my engine bay.
