Parking Brake Problems

Hoi hoi,

Awhile back my parking brake started to provide a lack of holding power, I kind of ignored it and was forced to park on generally level ground hahaha. So I pulled out my Haynes manual and decided I would tighten the brake line via the screw which is apparently accessible when you remove the parking brake cover.

So I did that, or so I thought and it was not really what I saw in the Haynes Manual. There was a threaded metal piece which was screwed onto a main steel shaft (check the pictures). I tried turning the threaded metal piece to make it tighter, but it had no effect on the holding capacity of the parking brake. Am I even close to doing this right?

So from the pics below perhaps someone could tell me what I've done wrong?

I know, prolly a very simple/stupid question but any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

yeah, you turn the threaded outer piece in to tighten but it looks like it's already pretty tight there ... so you may have to check the brake cable all the way to the rear calipers.
