park brake stuck/dragging help!

yeah my park brake has had this problem ongoing since i got the car. about half the time when i put the park brake down the lite on the idoit display stays on. i checked a while back and the brakes werent dragging so i just figured the sensor was bad. however i just noticed that the pads on the rear passenger side are worn down while the pads on the other side or fine. i tried turning the back wheels while up on stands and the right side was hard to rotate indicative of the park brake not fully disengaging on that side. even when i pulled the cable out of the ratchet mechanism on the hub, the wheel still draged. whats going on?

the question is: how do i fix the machanism so that the park brake will fully disengage everytime. any advice welcome.

Looks like two different problems.
The right rear caliper is stuck. A replacement coats <$100.
The brake handle switch needs adjustment.

SureShot is sure right. Don't try and rebuild, the rears are a pain. You can check by lifting the caliper off, remove the pads and try and turn the piston in. Chances are you won't be able too. If one is stuck, best by both rears and no more problems.

i had this problem..
just check the little switch that acyivates the light to come on.. its right at the bottom right hand side of the ratcher assembly.. check that first, since its easy.
If its not that, then go have fun with your calipers.
