Question Painting your calipers

I bought the paint for painting my calipers on my 89 Red T

I hope it tuns out like the attached file that i edited in photoshop.

I don't want to take the calipers off the car and eyt don't want to do the paint job while they are mounted.

I saw some else job where he did it in red and it came out pretty good.

i also want to remove the rust off of the rest of the disc and paint the rusted areas black.

Brand Dupli-Color
the Daytona Yellow DE1642 paint is an engine enamel with ceramic to a max of 500F
the black DH1602 paint has a max of 1200F

i am also going to remove the paint on the mazda wording so it stands out.
Should i use a gloss and give the caliper a coat?
And if so... do you get a high temp gloss?

I had painted my new calipers black. I had bought the caliper paint from Pep Boys...made by Plasitic Kote...something like that. Since the calipers were new...I didn't have to clean it. I had coated it 4x...wanted to make sure it had a good shell.

I have not yet put them on. I have been waiting for my brake lines from Demonspeed. He said he had sent them...but, nvr recvd them.

Good luck

While I can't quite distill the actual question in your post, mr_vaughn, I'll try

Yes, you can paint the calipers without removing them, but it's much harder, and IMO the results won't look as good. You don't have to disconnect the brake line, just the mounting - it's not too hard

I'd use testors enamel paint - it gets harder as the caliper heats up! Plus, you can get flat, semi-gloss, or gloss colors at any hobby shop, and it's CHEAP. Can't beat it.

The best way to get the rust off is with sandpaper. Go get some medium-grit, and have at it. Then, after you've painted the calipers, use some high-grit stuck to a board, and sand on top of the "mazda", and it'll start shining silver as the paint comes off. Looks supa dupa fly.

Good luck!

Mine are painted yellow. I don't know what paint was used cause it was like that before my time having it. They get really dirty too. But you can barely see them through my wheels.
