Yea, you can but that's about what a pro quality buffer does. They also polish the paint afterwards. I have one and it's really worth it. You end up with the same thing you would have if you paid a hunderd bucks for a detailing at a shop.

Have it professionally polished & buffed. If your paint is not chipping, bubbling, or rusting they can remove most scratches. Even if your clearcoat is hazzy or peeling, if the base paint is still good you'll be AMAZED what a good claybar, paint cleaner, polish, glaze, & wax will do.

Whoa Horsies!!

first off I wouldn't be recommending that this guy do anything as far as wetsanding and buffing goes until he finds out what he has for paint....

if his car had some acyrlic enamel sprayed on it before he bought it wetsanding and buffing is going to bring him one step closer to getting another paint job.....

SO FRIST OFF - what year is the car? is it a factory colour? are you aware of any signs of repaint on the vehicle? (masked edges, overspray in door jambs, dirt specks here and there on the exterior)
