Paint question

I'm busy making plans for my car next year. I'm budgeting 4 grand CDN to paint and equip my car with some aftermarket rims. The question, my car is currently Torado silver, (dark grey) and I like the look, but it's all chipped up and tired looking. Is it possible just to have all the chips touched up and have a cut polish done? Or would it be better just to repaint it all together. Finances do play a role so i'd rather go with the cheaper option.

If you want to just get by, touch it up but I think it desreves better. I would get it stripped to the metal and put a 3 stage job on it. If you change color, it will cost more. I had flaking and this was the only solution. Good luck.

A reputable paint & body shop will be able to fix you up for a few hundred dollars. You wouldn't need to take it down to the metal if you paint it the same color.

A good shop will remove bumpers, badges, door handles, and mouldings before painting; and reinstall them afterwards.

Also, have them repair any door dings and scratches. Few things look worse than slick shiny new paint over ripply dinged body panels.

No good shop will take all that stuff off and paint the car for a "few hundred dollars"

not sure what the canadian-american dollar ratio is, or what labor cost in your area, but thats a $2000-$4000 project right there depending on how much body work it needs.

The few hundred dollars didn't include the body repairs. Perhaps my phrasing was misleading. Less than a grand around here. Body/paint work in my area runs @ $40.00 per crashbook hour. We don't do it any other way. I just ran an estimate on it, and I figure about 18 hours ($760.00) plus paint. Probably end up around $1200-1600.00 after dent repairs & such.

How quickly "a few" becomes "several" becomes "many"... mea culpa
