paint my T2??? (long)

i bought a T2 a couple weeks ago and have been focusing my money on small things like gauges, downpipe, intake, etc... all of these things are cool, but when i look at the big picture, i notice that i am going to need a new paintjob if i really want to be satisfied with my car and want to keep it for a long time. i always thought that it would cost 1500 bucks to get a decent looking paintjob. i'm sure this is not true, but for some reason i was always under the assumption that all good-looking paintjobs cost atleast 1000 bucks... i guess the point of this post is: how much can i get a good looking paintjob for my black T2? i have several little body dings, etc. and i know that it will cost a little more to get them pinged out if i get it painted. I always see these commercials for these "200 dollar maaco paintjobs" of course every time i see someone advertising something like this i think its complete bullshit and they would totally destroy the outside look of my car. has anyone here gotten one of these paintjobs? if so how does it look? i'm not really considering it, but i may if it will last me for several years... summing this all up, after spending all this money on a rebuilt turbo, a/f and boost gauges, downpipe, intake, etc. should i start focusing all my money on a new paintjob? i love to buy all these little performance parts and install them, (i know everyone does) but all my friends say, "man that engine bay looks alright and the interior is great and the car runs good, but you need a paintjob bro..." The car has a decent overall paint look, but the paint is pretty much the only thing that really bugs me about the car. do you guys think i should do it? if so how much can i get a good-looking job done for? thanks alot guys and thanks for taking the time to read this post.

Go enroll in your local VO-TECH autobody course at night and have your car be the test mule. You'll have to buy your own paint, but you will have access to the right equipment and a Booth.
