Paint Black Part Around Hatch or Not?
Hey guys, my car is going to body shop next week to be painted blue. i have been wondering if i should paint the black part around hatch or not. the car is going to be blue all the pics i have on my computer of FCs it is left black. On my last car(87na) when i got it painted i also requested to paint that black part around hatch but i painted the car black so it all matched. Now i dont konw if it will look right if paint it to match car or not.

I wouldn't, it always looks wrong. It's like painting your windshield wipers...ick. BUT, if it's chipped scratched or faded as many of them are these days, see if they can spray it black again.

If you're wondering, it always came black from the factory.
I think it would look a little funny otherwise... maybe someone will photoshop it so we can see.. ;P

Re-spray it black...it looks so much classier and brand new black paint around the hatch (and various trim like the windows) is a small touch that goes a LONG way in making your car look brand new!

It's those extra little moldings on the body color portion of the hatch that look very very wrong in that picture. If you do this, please paint them black.

...94% correct.
I think that for the most part it looks very odd to have it painted. If you paint it you got to make sure that ALL of the black trim is painted to match.

mine was repainted by the previous owner, was originally black and it got painted white. I guess the body shop painted everything they saw white because mine is body color. I never even noticed that most of them were black until this post. It looks perfectly normal on a white car as far as I'm concerned.

if you look at the 2 white cars one is compleatly white with a black hatch, the other has a white hatch but black trim. I think i twould look good with black trim and a black hatch or white trim and a white hatch. anyone with me?
