Pace Setter Monza exhaust for '87 NA?

I plan on getting this cat-back exhaust system for my FC. Right now I have the factory exhaust and 75% of it from the catalytic converter back is rusted (mufflers, tips, clamps and sections of the Y-pipe). I basically just want my car to run normal again, however the performance and sound that come with a new system are always good as well. I don't want to shell out too much on one of those top of the line systems. I have a certain amount of money that I can spend on this and it looks like I can get a good deal on this particular system.

Can anyone tell me more about the Pace Setter system for the FC? I was wondering how loud it is, how the tone sounds, etc. I also would like to know if I gotta worry about any back pressure issues for the 5th and 6th ports to work properly. The system includes 2 "regular" looking mufflers - and although they are high-flow - it's not like I will be running a straight pipe from the cat so hopefully lack of back pressure won't be a huge issue. But I could be wrong. Thanks in advance.

my friend had them on his car. they sounded like crap in my opinion. they also rusted real easy. it wasnt that loud, a little louder than your average civic with a muffler. they just didnt have the deep sound. it was more of a high pitched ping sound. but they are a decent product. i personally would not buy thm though.

Well, the fact that it's not very loud is a good thing for me. I don't want to wake up half of my block every time I pull out of the driveway. I actually really enjoy the stock RX-7 exhaust tone (when it doesn't have leaks like mine does). I would probably keep my factory set-up if it wasn't for the fact that it's about to fall off due to rust. Would the car still have that trademark RX-7 hum to it even with the new system? Like I said, I don't care if it's not very loud, but then again I don't want it sounding like some run-of-the-mill Civic either.

As far as the Monza system rusting quick, I will be storing my car in the winter so I won't let any salt or snow touch it.

I had a pacesetter catback on my N/A a few years ago ( got it for dirt cheap when my stock system rusted out.. ) The qualitly wasnt all that great, and it didnt fit very well. One side seemed to stick out further than the other, and they stuck out way too far and looked stupid. Luckily I am handy with a torch and welder, so I could cut it to fit as I seemed fit. The sound was "ok",...until I got a RB header. Then the sound went very high-pitched and "tinny". In my opinion, save up a bit more and get something a bit more high-quality.

I have the full pacesetter on my 88 NA. Replaced my cat with straight pipe. VERY like "bees in a can". I then replaced the straight pipe a pre-silencer. Still sounds like an RX and a lot of the "bees" went away. And the only reason I got pacesetter was I needed exhaust and I spend all my money on rebuilding the motor.

The Pacesetter header is ok, the pacesetter cat-back is crap. Its actually more restrictive than stock, because of the crappy welding on the inside of the pipe.

Managed to set some more money aside and went with a Borla stainless steel cat-back system. Just put it on yesterday and I'm very satisfied with it.
