oxidation....bah

cleaned my interior yesterday... even took out the seats, cleaned out the carpet, dash, bins, etc.... (found some nasty dorito chip dust under the driver seat) anyways, interior is immaculate now and today is exterior day... i have some bad oxidation (deep textured ****) that you can see a little in my sig that i don't know what to do with.... no cash for a paint job yet and looking for fix until then. the oxidation looks like a bunch of scratches all over the place not smooth at all and it reminded me of the tv commercial about GS27 miracle scratch remover, ya know some gimic that they show fixing even the most horrible scratches on vettes and high priced cars... my question is if stuff like that even helps?? (not looking for perfect) or is there something proven that would at least make it not as noticable... looking to do it this afternoon so help quick

thanks,
fero

#1: That paint pealing is common on the S5 coupes, and a result from the clear coat being painted too long after the base coat has dried and that the paint was not being maintained correctly.

More than likely you will need to rub, polish and wax it off, as I have never had any luck with miracle sprays or waxes ever solving cracked clear coating. But if you want to try some, feel free to post your results in the interior/exterior section of this board.

How big can I make my signature in the FC section?
Any graphics used in such signatures are limited to a 20K file size.

Signatures should be less than 460x200 in size, or no more than 10 lines of text. Combination image/text signatures should have no more than 5 lines of text.

For oxidized paint, try a rubbing compound - lots of work. You want to remove the dead paint, so your "wax off" towl should be red/pink after you use it. I have a prelude that I have to remove dead paint from twice a year, same color, if you got a couple hundred bucks have a professional do it cause it's friggen hard labour.

Mine too...

Although my car is not anyway near as bad as yours, it still has some of the cracks or scratches in the paint that you mention. I have seen this on other Mazda's

When I took it to a detailer he said that the only way is to have the bad coating(s) removed and then have it repainted, he said otherwise the problem comes back.

I'm going to have it repainted...
