Question Overheating... what works =)?

My new TII runs fairly hot, and I tend to drive it with the heat on so it can displace the heat. I just ordered a new thermostat, but I'm wondering what else I can do to cool the car down. The more I mod the car, the better the cooling system is going to have to be. I am considering buying a new fluidyne radiator as well. Also, could the oil cooler also cause the car to run hotter? This weekend I will install the thermo, and flush my radiator, and check the whole cooling system (radiator, oil cooler, hoses). Just wondering, what else works well, and how can I cool my car down =)... Thanks in advance,

-Brian

Ah overheating, ive had unfortunate run-ins with that issue..

A bigger radiator definitely helps out. If you are going to get an electric fan, the only fan that i have found to work (i live in Sacramento and it gets up to 110 degrees here) is the Black Magic fan by Flex a lite. Yes its expensive at $180 from Summit Racing, but its the ONLY electric fan i have found to move enough air to cool my 89 turbo. It comes with a really nice shroud and relay setup. Im very happy that i ponied up to get it. I have a mazdacomp radiator and that fan and my coolant temp coming directly out of my motor (before it hits the radiator) has never gone over 195 degrees even in 107 degree outside temps. The fluidyne should work just as well. Good luck

you can check to see if your thermostat is opening when it should by feeling the upper radiator hose after its been running a couple minutes -- it ought to be hot! if not, you thermostat is stuck closed and the coolant is just cycling through the engine

aha..

I did a major coolant flush, replaced the thermostat, and took the radiator and oil cooler out... SOB that thing is dirty. I'm going to clean 'em as well as I can, and pop em back in there tomarrow... The coolant flush helped emmensely anyways, thanks for your responses...
