overheating

I was refueling my car, NA '89 vert, with 87 octance gas. A few moments later when I drove away the car started to overheat. I immediately pulled off the road and turned it off. It was running fine before I put gas in it. My first thought was maybe the 87 octane caused this since this problem didn't happen until after I refilled it. Last time I filled it up, I used 89 octane. Or whichever is the one that's between the highest and lowest. So yeah, that's what I thought caused the overheating, but I have no idea if that's possible. I don't know what else could have caused it. I was driving it slow, under 4k rpm, and it had been running perfectly up until I put gas in it.

Any thoughts?

stuck t-stat? i don't think gas alone would do that, unless there was something really wrong w/the gas
