Sounds like you have 2 problems. 1: The car overheats when it runs, and 2: It won't start.
1: You worked on the radiator, but did you also change out the thermostat (use a Mazda replacement that has the jiggle pin), and replace the radiator cap and the cooland fill cap on the hose?

As for #2, there could be a lot of reasons it won't crank. If you have a large vacuum leak, like a torn manifold gasket or a loose vac line, it won't start. But starting troubles can be a bear to track down.

As much info as possible is good when you post. It's good to know what the coolant looked like when you drained it, ex. chunks, rusty, etc. It's a good idea to remove the thermostat, attach a hose to flush the coolant the opposite direction of flow. I usually do this at the heater hoses. This will remove the chunks if you have any that have clogged in your radiator or heater core. Make sure you use a kit that won't over pressure your system. You can explode your radiator, seals or heater core if you do not use a release valve which is usually found in a flush kit. If you do not remove the thermostat when flushing it will block your flushing process. If you didn't replace your thermostat tho, I can almost bet you that is your problem.

Good luck.
