overheating

ever since i got my rebuild motor install back in november of last yr the car been running very hot...its been overheating when the weather is above 75 or driving stop n go traffic, but at night it runs good without a problem...engine pulls strong, has new waterpump since rebuilt, no smoke(good sign?), new rad pressure caps, dual pulley, no lil or big bubbles bursting out(good sign right?) and has a electric fan...iono how fast that fans spinning but its hooked up to the ignition so its stays on the efan has a shroud on it? its a flex a lite i think 16inch when i got the motor install the mechanic put in the e fan so i really dont kno what the speed on the fan.. need help dont kno whats the next step to do or check?

Do you have a thermostat?

Besides regulating flow to the radiator, the stat has a spring loaded disc that covers a bypass port down in the pump housing.

If that bypass port is open, you get symptoms like a partially blocked radiator.

Not a good way to hook up that fan.. Just so you know.

Sounds like a thermostat.
