Overheating ???
OK guys, this is my first "real" problem with the Rex ('92 TII):
Going away for the weekend, on the freeway I was doing 210-220 and no prob. Then Saturday morning I wanted to show the car to a friend of mine. So I did a little 0-100, 0-200 and top-speed test (and show-off
), but when I got on the freeway to test my top speed, and during heavy shifting (and turbo working full time), my temp went up to the 3/5 of the range!). I was amidst a lot of cars, and the outside temperature was almost 40 C. Slowed down, let the car cool down, and then checked all fluids, oil, electricals etc. Everything seemed OK.
Then when I was returning Sunday afternoon (again 37-38 C temps), when I got in a slight traffic jam and did a lot of shifts (4th to 5th and back), my temp again rose just a bit (but I'm sure that if I pressed on, it would get even higher). But when I got "free" of other slower cars and was traveling at 200-210kph, everything was OK again.
So what's up ? Is this normal ? Is it just the high outside temp, my driving and other cars exhausts that cause the engine to heat up ? Or is it something that I must check ? Anything in particular I must pay attention to ?
