Overheated, Now buzzer keeps coming on

Blew a block off cap off the thermowax thing yesterday. Overheated briefly and refilled the radiator after I fixed the problem. So far no leaks visible, no white smoke out the tailpipe and the temp gauge is showing normal temps. Now the buzzer comes on and the coolant light comes on from time to time even when the temp is showing normal. What's causing it to do that? Making me crazy driving it when the buzzer comes on.

Anyone ever run into this? How did you fix it? Searched but didn't find any answers.

I had the same problem, but without overheating.

Just check the wire going to your coolant sensor on the top of the radiator. If you have an electrical tester (voltmeter? not sure what it's called,) make sure that wire is good all the way back.

Or, maybe you fried your sensor? I'd check that, too. If you have a Haynes manual, I believe it tells how to check it. If you don't have one, PM me, and I will get back on this thread with a copy of their instructions.

is it using water?, have you been refilling it, it could just be an air lock which can be removed by bleeding the air from highest point or you cooked it, warped the plates and now you are using water.

Doesn't seem to be losing any water, Just the buzzer going off and coolant lite. Will see if the sensors' fried then. Thanks

When my RX-7 was first started (it had sat for god knows how long in my step sisters hands), the light and buzzer just wouldnt stop... I ended up just having to pull the sensor wipe it down a little and then made sure it was in there nice and tight.. Buzzer finnaly went away (thank god).

I suspect you still have some air in the system.
