overflow tank problem, need help

my overflow tank's cap isn't tight, and coolant will get pushed out of it once the car starts to get warm. it's not a real big deal, but it's a pain to have to top off the coolant everyday. I wrapped some plumbers tape around the neck to try and make it tighter, but it isn't working very well. besides gettin another cap, any other ideas??

your over flow tank cap just snaps on.. it your purdging coolant into the overflow u have greater problems check and make sure your flat cap is good and you have a oem mazda cap 13psi cap on the rad. make sure you have no leaks in the cooling system id get a pressure tester. also you can check to see if your seals are failing or starting to go.. with that tool as well.

You shouldn't have the overflow tank filled all the way to the top, just to the "full" mark on the side of the tank.... a little under 1/2 way full.

thx for the replies. it's probably too much coolant in the overflow/surge tank, i figured fuller was better, that and the tube that goes into it is snapped, and only goes about half way down. i replaced tsat with oem, and a new radiator cap that opens at 13psi, but it's stant (i still have my old oem one). i'll try looking for a replacement tube to go in the tank, hopefully that'll fix my problems.
