How is the coolant lost in the heater core? Would that leave a deposite on the inside of teh car (windshield?) Because I have that sometimes too.

Relax, I definitely don't think she's blown. Way too few and occasional bubbles, especially when you revved it.

I think air is getting into the system slowly, somewhere, and then being released through the filler cap. Only a good engine bay cleanup and pressure test with UV dye will track it. Seems very small - maybe just a little air going past a clamp or pinhole in the heater core or rad.

You can also do compression test before if you have the tools handy, just for reference and FYI.

P.S. Put in a Mazda Thermostat cover rad cap and thermostat while you're messing with the cooling system (make sure to torque the thermostat cover bolts). I just did them this weekend and am posting a couple of pics and some info in a minute.

So $216.29 later I find out that it was a loose clamp on the coolant bypass hose and two faulty caps. A pressure test reveled that this fixed the problem. The temperature however keeps climbing (went up to 1/2 way on highway, then dropped).

I lost track... did you have it flushed?

I took it to a local mazda dealership and they pressure tested the cooling system and found the problems listed above. They tightened the clamp, and replaced the caps, retested the pressure system and found that everything checked out...so its not a blown coolant seal.

Ok... so it's not leaking.

Is it FLOWing?

Did you get it FLUSHED?

Does your clutch fan work right, is your shroud in place, is your under-tray in place, are all pieces that direct air into the radiator in place?

Have you tried hooking up a different water temp sensor/gauge? Maybe it's just reading wrong.

same thing happened with me, turned out to be a simple thermostat issue.

so im having the same problem that you where having but the only hose that gets hot is the top radiator hose the bottom doesnt get hot neathier does the radiator any sugestions

sounds like a bad thermostat to me, or a clog in your radiator. Only use an OEM thermostat.

I recently did a simple how to on replacing the thermostat...search "replacing thermostat", and there are other write ups too.

^ your rad may be clogged or an obstruction in the system - flush.

If your upper hose gets hot it would indicate that the thermostat is opening so the first thing I'd check is the radiator itself.
