Over heatting. Help me out

so today my car over heated twice. After the first time i checked the radiator and it was dry so i figured that would be the problem so i filled it and drove home a few hours later, but sure enough it ended up over heating again so i parked it and when i popped the hood smoke was coming from what seemed to be the heater core, right next the the oil filler(possibly the hose from the block to the firewall) and that hose had a very small hole in it which was leaking. When i turn the heat on it blows out cold air, is this simply because of that small hole in that hose or what? I also have a 88 vert. Any advice would help thank you.

A small leak can leak alot over time , I'd replace whatever hose is leaking and make sure your coolant is topped off.

The heat is blowing cold because theres no coolant to heat it up.

Your heater core could be bad, was there coolant on the floor leaking from it in the car? If so replace the heater core.

Not coolant seals. Housings warp if overheated for extended periods.

Don't forget to change your thermostat. If u find stop leak anywhere try to flush it out.
