same thing happened with the current race car, which is a miata. we're running a haltech, which is like strike 1, no thermostat, strike 2, and then i'm not sure where the map came from, but its coolant correction is way off. it never goes to zero, so its always doing something, and then there is a break point at like 170f, so the coolant correction moves around in the area we're trying to tune it.

we couldn't zero it out because it was 10%, so it would have required retuning the whole map.

i think we've since fixed it, but it was a wasted dyno session.

the really weird bit about the miata is that, unlike the Rx7, which has service manuals, training manuals, and SAE papers; making it just about the best documented car ever, the miata doesn't have anything. its like its made by a different company or something. for instance the 2001 miatae had variable valve timing, and the training manual doesn't mention it, at all.
