Original Paint Type on AE?

Hey Fellas,
I did a few searches and didn't come up with anything. What type of paint was originally used on the AE cars (or any other S4)? Was it a base/clear or not? I am considering repainting mine but I would like to know how it was originally done. My local paint shop appears to be pretty good and can mix whatever I ask for. I redid the wheels last year with a base/clear combo and they look great, actually better than the rest of the car, so it made me wonder how it was done originally. If you were repainting it, what method of application would you use?

I remember reading something about Crystal White being the only color without clearcoat but I'm not 100% sure.

repaint it with base-clear.

I believe the stock paint is single stage.
