Opinions on most efficient way to quite down exhaust

Just looking on other peoples opinions on off the shelf mufflers, Im super sick of being extremely loud, Im running a 3 inch exhaust turbo back with only a cheapo canistermuffler at the tip on my 13b.

Ideas for a good 3" muffler I can stick mid exhaust that will help quite the exhaust alot that isnt too restrictive, I gotta watch the height dimension of the muffler too because my frame rails are about 2 inches off the ground.

thanks

i like the RB revII presilencer, it WORKS. keep the muffler you have on the end and put the RB in the middle

You can buy just their REV II presilencer can (no flanges etc) from RB for about $100.

I've heard good things about the Borla XR-1 as well, but I have no personal use on that or the REVII.

The REVII doesn't bolt up because its a 3 inch OD. The stock system is what, 2.4 inch OD?

Racing Beat does make a replacement for the stock cats though.

I've also had a lot of good luck with the Vibrant Performance 3" ultra-quiet resonators. I have one on my 2nd gen and have used them on a bunch of cars. Stainless packed, for about $100.

I have a borla xr-1 on mine and it went from having horrible loud noise to a nice quiter tone still deep and loud enough to be hear but not too loud. Im about to change my system up though using rb raceheader and 3" all way back with borla xr-1 in center of car. Hoping its not tooo loud just running 3" pipe out rear for dual tips thats it. but run two borla xr-1's on the tips and throw a rb presilencer in there and you'll have your self a quite and nice sounding exhaust! oh if you even want it quitier run two smaller presilencers in the piping before it gets to your mufflers....

tis not for an rx7 its for my corolla in my sig so no duals, I swapped a tII into it. I think I may check out the RB presilencer, or maybe see what kinda deal I can get the borla for at my local place. I wont be able to fit two in there anywhere

i have a Borla XR1 on my car, quieted it down a bit and added a decent tone to the exhaust. basically it's the only real muffler in the system now.

i plan on making a dual system with two XR1's in the future to quiet it down more, but that's just because i'm getting old and i don't like loud exhausts anymore. i kind of prefer actually hearing my turbo.

they have a magnaflow knock off called flopro, many sizes many lengths. fairly cheap and neither of mine have melted after two years on the track. i get all my exhaust stock from them.

just finished my 4in down pipe using all their products.

If your car is NA use a pre-silencer of some kind. A friend of mine has a S5 NA with a RB header & pre-silencer combo with a borla catback that sounds pretty nice and isn't too loud. I run a RB 3in DP and borla catback on my TII that I am very happy with.

Video of my car during an autocross last year: (skip to 3rd run to hear it outside the car)

A simple resonator as far rear as possible will knock sound down to a reasonable level. Shouldn't run you too much at a reputable exhaust shop.
