I was doing a little maintenance on my cats last Sunday (lol) and started it up with just the manifold. The 3k start-up began and I had to shut it off...I can't imagine it with headers...

Solo II loud...

[i]

I am competing in the SPL category at our local SOLO II. There's this 240Z with a 3" straight pipe that is about as loud as my car was with a straight pipe. Horrible horrible. [/B]
I ran in CSP for a while with a resonator on the tail with custom header and bonez straight pipe only. I was usually the loudest car there and eventually was told to change it by some lame *** tech. The other loud car was a totally modded out midget and no one complained to him just because his car was in better condition than mine. Totaly biased against me. Oh well. I got many complaments about how the car sounded tougher than the other whiney metalic sounding rotaries out there. I also had header wrap and wrap on the bonez pipe. It helped deaden the metalic ringing sound of the rotary.

KEEP EM CRAZY LOUD!!!!!

PISTONS!! BOOYOW!

Yes, when we got kurgans 20B FC running, we ran open downpipe around the block at 4am.. It is not nearly as loud because of the turbo.. But it sounds SOOO damn mean..

Sledgehammer on the forum took off his cats and just had his header on (atleast it was his cats or pipe - i don't remember his set up) and shot a video with just an open header exhaust. It sounded pretty neat, but was incredibly loud.

This kid showed up at the track with just an open header, everyone was like oh crap that thing must be fast! It quickly turned into laughter as he ran a 16 something. He left his hood open while he was in the staging lanes and someone switched his plug wires around so that he couldn't run again LOL.

I love the sound, but it's too loud for the streets. In a couple of days, I run it open headers and get it on video. I'll run it at night so you can see the flames I can shoot out of it.

http://www.team140.net/albums/exclusive_videos/aae.wmv

That's what open exhaust sounds like on an RX-7.

I've never had a catalytic converter on any of my RX-7s

Gawd, this thread makes me want to run open headers around again. Too bad it gets too hot under the car and warps heatshields and melts the undercoating..

finally an easy way to get rid of that black build up! cheaper than having it sprayed off (with whatever they use; sand?? hell i dont know).

NICE! Do you have a clip of that exhaust setup? I would like to convert to Spintech true duals on my RX-7 and my pickup. Good mufflers, but I have no idea what a true dual Spintech would sound like on the 7.

Also, where did you put the turn down? Back bumper or like under the car?

I would like the vid with the flames. What's funny is any sound clips of the open headers are pretty much useless because it drowns the mic (any of ours anyway) after like 3K.

Why doesn't the first link work? Could be because the thread is 8 months old. Some dumbass resurrected it.

Anyway, here is a vid of interest I just took.
