I messed up. I put s4 housings on an s5 motor. I noticed that when I went to put the car in timing, if I were to line up with the yellow mark, the car wouldnt start. I had to put it I would say on 0degree on the pulley for it start and run. It runs fine though.

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
maybe if you had a real title on your thread someone might answer it. Please use titles that describe the problem, if you want replies.
There should be no issues with spark timing other than they will be slighty early using a S4 housing and a S5 ECU.
You probably have your CAS off 180

Well I am running a microtech. But I still have to zero in the timing...
and around how many degrees would it be off..

I don't understand your question?
You replaced "housings"?
Which ones?
Side ones?
Rotor housings?
If it's rotor housings, this shouldn't screw up timing.
Hell, using the side housings wouldn't either!
Did you rebuild the motor or something?
If you did, it sounds like the CAS is not inserted correctly, as Icemark has already implicated.
It sounds like a Microtech issue not an engine issue...

I aligned the cas, rotated the main pulley till it was 5atdc, or the yellow mark. But the engine wouldnt start, and if I push started it, it would backfire and buck, but wouldnt run. BTW this is a jspec. When I looked at the pulley I noticed there was another notch so that the yellow mark was right in between the red and notch. When I put it on the other notch the car would start up just fine and run like normal. I restabbed it many times to make sure I did it correct and even took of the lid and held it from spining. but I always got the same result.
