oops...i think i killed my turbo.

yeah not good. i messed something up. i was cruising in 4th gear, an i needed to get around this truck so i wouldnt miss my turn onto the interstate, so i rolled into the throttle(read-to the floor) and the car made around 12-14 psi(autometer gauges suck for accuracy). it was pulling along nicely when all of a sudden the car just shut down. the motor just died. i didnt know what the hell was goin on. i eased the clutch back out to start the car up, but since then it wont make boost. i thought i popped my motor at first, but the car runs, idles and drives just fine, untill you try and make boost. then it just hesitates hard and wont accelerate. all my vacum lines are on and everything. but when i pulled my TID off and checked the compressor wheel, thats when i figured it out. the wheel spns over pretty good, a little stiff but not too bad. but the shaft has WAY too much play in it. it moves a lot. soooo, i need a new turbo. anybody got an 89 up turbo the wanna sell for cheap??

Yep, no point telling you that you already busted your turbo, cause you've seen it yourself and it has LOTS OF PLAY ? Even a little is more than enough to call it quits. Sorry new turbo for you (but I dont have any....)

I'm about to start a group buy on some hybrids. Give me time to get all the details.

ehh i dont want a hybrid. youre talking about the hybrid stock turbo with the TO4 compressor stuff right? to much lag for me. i mainly want my car for Auto-x and drift, so that turbo would be waaay to laggy. ive ridden in an FC with the hybrid turbo on it, it made good power and pulled hard, but lagged to much. the oly hybrid im interested in is one that im not even sure exists. someone a while back told me there s a company that can take my stock 89 up turbo and make it ball-bearing. not sure if thats true but its the only "hybrid" type turbo that interests me.

There are a alot of ways to build a hybrid. Compressor size and shape, as well as the trim of the wheel. I wouldnt turn your head on a hybrid that quickly, do some more research, you might find you can make more power and not gain any more lag what so ever.

My friend can do it with the stock compressor housing. You shouldnt get any noticeable lag.

Also check the car over for any loose vacuum hoses.

Oh I didnt take it that way I'm just saying going with a proper hyrbid is alot easier than having to worry about full new turbo, manifold, external wastegate, blow off valve etc......
