Once again, back from the track, and very disappointed......

Here they don't use the water box on most nights I have been. I only actually raced one time myself. Tomorrow will be number 2. Any guesses?

Get softer springs in back and take off at about 3500 to 4000. And Stay out of the water box unless you run slicks. You might try lowering the front a little to help with weight transfer

Whats up! I got a 88 GTU.
http://edge_krusher.tripod.com/Car/gtu.html

I am taking it to speedworlds E- Legals night races on saturday. I think it starts around 9pm and end in the early morning.

My 88 SE best time was 17.45.
I had a 60ft of 2.5x
top speed of 79.4
reaction of .510(best) .580(worst)

I usually went through the water box and did a burnout for about 1 second or until i saw some smoke.
I would launch at about 3.2k-4k and would barely lose traction. One time i grabbed too much and bogged(should launched higher).

That engine had 152k miles on it and was pretty beat up.
I hope my new ride does better but it feels about the same power wise.I hope to prove myself wrong this saturday.

You probably broke a mount somewhere. That causes ALOT of hop. Not to mention a suspension thats on its way out.

I do have an exhaust leak that I can fix with a gasket, I just havent bothered to get it yet. The motor has never been rebuilt, and I dont even know what compression is like.
Just consider that you are in a hot climate at 1500 feet elevation. Engines burn more air and fuel when they breath colder air or denser air. I wouldn't worry about not breaking 15. You would break it if you were at the Portland strip (50ish degrees and 100 feet elevation).

I lived in Phoenix for the past five years, just moved to Oregon. Even my worn out 88 Integra is less slow out here compared to in Arizona.

What is the altitude at the track? It makes a difference. I'm 3680 above sea leael here and my times will drop about a second at sea level. So just because someone says they run low 13's doesn't mean they run low 13's anywhere. You car runs better at low altitude (air is more dense).

Altitude is something in the neighborhood of 1200ft. I am getting toe elim. bushings, and an alignment soon. I will see what that does for me. After that, I guess I could try some new bushings in some of the rear-end components. Thanks for the help you guys.

Try a slip/dump launch at 5krpm. You have to ride it momentarily to prevent wheelspin and then dump it.

Losing weight from the car will help your times also.

I ran 15.8's on my '86 sport w/ open stock air filter box, Bonez racepipe, stock rotted out catback, and wired open secondary ports. Trap speeds from 87-89mph and a 2.2 60 foot time. Shifting past 7krpm didnt help much for me. I ride out the finish buzzing/redlining the motor in 3rd gear. On a cold night it would have been possible to hit 15.7.

I had bad oil control rings, shot puffs of smoke between shifts, and after closing throttle at the finish.

Put your motor in a first gen, lol. 15.6 @ above 5280 ft. with a carb that needed rebuilding badly and riding on 205-50-13's.

You Have a GXL it weights as much as the titanic 16.2 is a respectable qtr mile run for that model. I used to have one until I got smart and bought a T2. you just going to sink your money in to it and not see the times you want. if you looking for speed buy a T2. any one who owns a GXL nows what i'm talking about weather they want to admit it is another story.

Yep, I went from an 88 GXL to my current T2. If you just want to beat the regular civics and the such its fine. If you want to keep up with the big boys it just ain't gunna happen.

I hate you people.
My 88 GTU ran a 17.1 when I first ran it.
So far I have put a cone filter, Efan, and Corksport single catback on.

It had a downpipe/presilencer on and what I believe is a high flow cat.
My engine has 83k on it and my 2nd gear syncro is going..

I need to go to the track and see what I run. I need to get inot the 16's damn it!!!!
