old gasket removeal

so im fixing a vacum leak on my lower intake, and i bought the new gaskets to get on, but how do you get the old gasket on the upper intake off? that sonofagun is melted on there like crazy!!! so what do you guys suggest to take that thing off? i already tried scrapeing with a flathead screwdriver.

on a seccond note, a mechanic said to pervent gasket blowouts in the future i should rough up inbetween the the gasket like on the engine and intake. anyone else heard if this works or not?

You should get a electric drill and buy a gasket removal adapter.

they sell em at like autozone for like 5 bux. it looks like a rubber green brush.

after u get it, put it on, set it on high, den that **** juss comes right off. dont use a metal brush adapter cuz it will dmg the surface. it will be shiny, but thats also a bad thing.

if u have more questions, pst me.

what about the roughing up the two contact surfaces of the gasket? does this extend gasket life?

gaskets bond with aluminum rather easily so don't worry about roughing up the surface, as noted by how well the original gasket has already stuck on there.

i normally just use a gasket scraper tool and a razor blade. be sure to put some rags or towels down the ports to keep crap from getting in there.
