Ok is this my tranny that is causing the issue?

Ok I get grinds when down shifting into 1st, 2nd and 3rd. If I shift to quickly into 2nd or 3rd then it also grinds. This was how it all started. So I put in tranny oil and it seemed to make it better. When shifting quickly I got no grinds, but downshifting was still pretty bad in 2nd....but 3rd was fine.

Anyway the gear oil seemed to help for a while...but the other night after doing some upgrades (test-pipe and full exhaust) I noticed after a few days the grinding started to get worse. Now yesterday it did something totally new. I got on the highway and shifted to 5th watched the rpms go up like normal, but the car barely got any power. Got off the highway and noticed that it did this in 3rd and 4th also. The higher the gear the worse. Today I drove it around for a while and it has progressively gotten worse. Now it does it halfway through 2nd and 3rd and 4th i get no power at all. You watch the rpms shoot up like they usually do...but the car does almost no acceleration.

So me and Kleach think its the tranny. One friend said it was the pressure plate and another said it was my clutch.

Now the clutch was checked when I bought the car and I was told it was good. But I was told that the clutch disk and thowout bearing needed to be replaced. So I bought a street/strip clutch disk and TOB from Racing Beat. So that's why me and kleach think it has to be the tranny that is causing this issue. I only have about 7-8k miles on the engine, clutchdisk and TOB. FYI this is on a 1990 Turbo II.

One other thing I forgot to add. The tranny seems to be leaking also. Nothing to bad...but we looked at it when taking the exhaust off there was oil all around it...plus you can smell it.

The grinding is caused by worn syncros in the transmission.

The other problem (RPMs shooting up, car going nowhere) is a worn clutch. Or possibly one contaminated with oil. However, try bleeding the clutch hydraulics before you replace something expensive.

sounds like something with the clutch.. it'll START to do goofy things first in 5th (if its slipping), when there's the bigest difference between what the engine WANTS the car to do, and what the car is actually doing.

It does sound like the clutch but I was just wondering does the car feel jumpy when you hit higher rpm's? and does it feel like it's not going to go any faster?
