Oil Pump Installation questions
So I am installing a new oil pump in my car. I was chasing oil pressure problems and found the O-ring in the front cover was the source, but I checked the oil pump and it was questionable....so new pump it is.
I have two questions.
-The pump rotors have dimples on the outter and inner rotor. Do I need to have those dimples match up before installing the pump on the engine? or are those dimples only to tell you which face of the rotor goes toward the block?
-What is the point of the 'set screw' what does it do? Do I need to adjust it one a new pump assembly or leave it alone? The manual says to crimp the screw but I am not familiar with what that means....I've crimped electrical connectors but not a screw head!
Thanks in advance.

The small set screw is to be *staked* in at the head so the thing won't vibrate out. The small set screw goes into the guts to hold the inner plate part of the pump from rotating. The screw sits in a groove of that inner plate part to prevent rotation.
The dots are there just to make sure you have that side of the gears facing the front side housing.
By the way, I did find that set screw at the bottom of the pan in a turbo engine I got from the wrecking yard. Rebuilt engine and reinstalled and staked the set screw in the pump.

What do you mean by staked the screw?
yeah that picture in the FSM confused me. They lined up the dots on the pump rotors as if they had to be aligned for installation, but the text didn't mention anything.
