oil leak on turbo hotside
There is a steady oil leak where the bolts are on the turbo hotside. The turbo is a rebuilt stock s4, when I instaled the turbo it ran good for about 30 sec then the oil leak started. I pulled it to see what was up and all the bolts behind the oil and water pipes wernt even hand tight. so I tightend all of them but the turbo still leaks. there is no blow buy into the exaust and no oil in the ic pipes, it just runs down the turbo on to the manie. I was wondering if there was an oil treatment that I could use or dose the turbo need to be rebuilt again. thanks

i think kevin prob would have a few turbos he could sell ya... hes a trusty guy too
if only he was a she and my age, id be all over her...

If Yer going to send it to Bryan... Even if he's not doing a hybrid and just rebuilding it for you.. get him to put the 35MM wastegate in it.. you'll never have a problem with boost creep again!!!!!

I R SAD PANDA W/O BAW
After I had my hybrid rebuilt I had problems with burning oil. Here's the things I did to fix it.
First I had to restrict the oil feed line to 1/16" (I verified this was sufficient oil flow by asking the rebuilder how close the clearances were in the seals). 1/8" may be fine for most people. I did this by cutting my own paper gasket and then drilling a hole through the the center of it.When most turbo rebuilders rebuild the turbo they take out the stock oil restrictor in the cartridge, not sure why but probably because they have to.
Also make sure your PCV system is working correctly. After I had my hybrid installed I would smoke without a PCV system set up. I drilled and tapped a fitting into the TID and ran a line to the oil fill neck (this helps to suck the oil vapors out while you are building boost/in boost). That alone didnt fix it. I added an extra line Tee'd into an intake manifold source with a one way check valve to the crankcase vent on the center iron right behind the oil filler neck and and that finally solved the problem in addition to what I have said above (manifold vac helps to pull out oil vapors when in decel and the one way check valve prevents boost from pushing more pressure into the crankcase).

i made a oil restrictor pill myself...welded the stock oil feed shut and used the 1/16" drill bit to drill it out...but i still have smoke on decel...im a little different though since im running a 6port turbo BUT, im wondering if running that line from the TID to the oil filler neck would help and the other method you tried???ill have to see.....im tired of being james bond(smoke screen on decel!)!!! how big were the lines that you ran?

yea the 2 methods together I used to rig my PCV system stopped the smoking. the line from the TID was probably about 1/4" ID and the line from the manifold was standard size vac hose.
