Angry Oil Leak/Blown Engine? HELP!!

Hey guys. First off I'm new to the forum and just wanted to say "hey". I just purchased a 89 N/A with 180,000 miles on it. I'm sure it's in need of an engine just not how soon. I've been having problems with the idle and flywheel. The main problem is that the oil pressure goes up and down acting like the RPM. When I floor it, it goes up right away and then down when it decelerates. When I start it and drive it around then leave it and start it again it starts at around 600 RPM then goes down to around 300-500 if i'm lucky. Today it went close to 0 and I had to turn it off. I checked the oil and it's low but new. What is the problem? Any help would be great. Thanks!

you said when you climb in rmps it goes up....when coming down from RPM's it goes down? Sounds normal to me..unless you mean it drops at a rapid rate. At idle it almost goes to 0? Sending unit is most likely the cause. Idle...check for vacc. leaks, adjust your TPS.

Oil sounds about normal, it should fluctuate with RPM. It should NOT drop to zero. Your car does have oil injectors to lubricate the apex seals, so expect to use oil. Approx a quart every 2000 miles.

The idle? Thats another story entirely. Get the FSM at www.fc3s.org

Sounds like a crappy sender. when i got my 7 it had been parked for months, the oil pressure gauge didnt even work for 200 or so miles, then one day it just worked

what problems are you having with your flywheel?

Thumbs up

Thanks for the help and info everyone, it's much appreciated. As Uhmm for the problem with the flywheel (i think it's the flywheel) is that it causes a loud spinning noise when i start the car or it isn't warmed up. But when the car is in neutral w/o the clutch in there is that spinning noise; when i put the clutch in it goes away completely. So I'm pretty sure its the flywheel. As for the Oil pressure it does go up at a steady pace. I can see the nozzle go up and down in the corner of my eye. I dunno if it's just how RX7's work cuz this is my first one. I think I'm going to take it to get a diagnostic run just so i know what i have to plan further funds for. Today when I started the car to leave school (the car been in the sun the whole day) it started at the highest RPM ever, at 3300 and almost at 3500. I notice shortly after while letting it sit that there was a lot of white smoke flowing out the exhaust. I'd say about 30 secs. later the smoke just stopped and sent my RPMs directly to 1300 or so. Whats up with that? It's only happened one other time on a cold morning. Thanks again guys and sorry for the lengthly posts. =]
